"Distorted Beauty"--we're all being fooled

It's true, we're being fooled. Our impression of what is beautiful is being tweaked and we don't even realize it. I was floored when I saw the work put in to making on shot for an add. I'm also sure that this is not even the full picture the real work and amount of time it takes to make a model "ready" for the camera.

As girls we constantly want to become and more importantly, be viewed as more beautiful. It's sometimes so frustrating looking at those magazines in the checkout line which are covered in "perfect" women. Plastic surgery is on the rise and the age of women getting work done is declining.

And the poor boys/men out there you see these same faces (and bodies) in magazines too. WARNING-WARNING-WARNING you too are being fooled if you think these girls really look the way you are seeing them in print. I think there are a lot of guys who get married and are really disappointed in the wife because she doesn't "measure up" to the image. And frankly, we can't, it's impossible, unless of course we have a Super-Team available to assist us on a daily, or more realistically an hourly basis.

Check out this link to see what really happens to those who girls view as "perfect" and those who guys view as "hot".

welcome to the darkside Brooke! If you look at our blogs you will see links to other blogs we are in contact with.

As for the "Beauty" thing. We've been sold that bill of goods ever since the beginning. This even goes to the extent that women use makeup. Sorry, but it's true. Not saying women shouldn't wear it, but women tend to think that they are beautiful without it. They've been buying that lie for a long time. Dawn's beautiful without her makeup and I'm sure you are too.

Oops! I meant to say women tend to think that they are NOT beuatiful without it.

Scott- You're adding to my guilt right now. Let me explain...last week I was at home for 4 days sick with strep throat. Of course, I didn't wear any makeup those days and everytime I went to look in the mirror the first 2 days I thought, "wow, I look a mess"...but then as time went on and I got a little used to my look I started to like it. Well, I got better and the next morning while in the bathroom I habitually got out my makeup bag. It was like I was a recovering alcholic going to get a drink or something. I was so disappointed in myself for PUTTING MAKEUP ON! Crazy! I just can't do it.

Funny thing happened today. I got home from work and discovered I had gone to work without any makeup on!!!! Three boys in my seventh hour (remember I teach High School!!!!) told me I looked beautiful! I NEVER go in public without my makeup!!!!!! I don't recall High School boys having told me I am beautiful in the seven years I have been teaching there!

Joyce-that's funny. But I know what you mean. Shawn can't tell when I have makeup on or not. And to my surprise, he gives me more compliments when I don't have any on. Crazy. And you better watch out for those high school guys! ha

It is nice to be a Senior Citizen and not have to worry when I get those kind of compliments!!!! :?)

here ""Distorted Beauty"--we're all being fooled".
And I do have a couple of questions for you if you do not mind.

Is it just me or does it seem like a few of these remarks appear as if they are written by brain dead individuals?

:-P And, if you are writing at additional places, I would like to keep up with everything fresh you have to post.
Could you list of the complete urls of all your public
sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

Right now it sounds like Drupal is the top blogging platform available right now.
